국내 유명 보안블로그 ‘울지않는 벌새’가 5월 5일 포스팅을 통해 불필요한 프로그램(PUP, PUA) 목록을 공개했다.
 
블로그에 따르면, PUP(Potentially Unwanted Program) 또는 PUA(Potentially Unwanted Application) 프로그램은 일반적으로 보안 제품의 추가적인 설정을 통해 진단에 포함될 수 있으며 설치된 불필요한 프로그램(PUP, PUA)은 광고창 및 팝업창 생성, 바로가기 아이콘 등록, 사이드바 및 툴바 생성, 홈 페이지 변경, 추가적인 업데이트 창을 통한 제휴 프로그램 설치 유도 등 사용자에게 불편을 유발하는 경향이 매우 강하다“고 밝혔다.
 
더불어 “PC 사용자의 제어판 → 프로그램 제거 또는 변경 목록에 포함되어 있는 경우 사용자의 판단에 따라 삭제 하기 바란다”고 권고했다.
 
한편 아래와 같은 불필요한 프로그램 목록은 수시로 업데이트 할 예정이라고 덧붙였다.

블로그는 “일부 등록된 프로그램 중에서는 현재 유포가 이루어지지 않는 관계로 정보 확인이 되지 않아 추가적인 내용이 차후 공개되지 않을 수도 있다”며 “해외 광고 프로그램으로 표시된 목록을 제외하고는 국내에서 제작된 것으로 추정되며, 일부 프로그램은 제어판 → 프로그램 제거 또는 변경에 등록된 삭제 목록을 통해 삭제 후에도 지속적으로 동작할 수 있어 주의해야 한다”고 권고했다.
